Building Accountability
The most prevalent concern across the full range of our clients is their frustration and challenge of bringing a high level of personal accountability to their organization.
As accountability weakens within the American culture, employers are finding recruits and new hires missing or deficient in ethic of living their lives with integrity.
Too frequently, they operate under a new code of “Situational Ethics”, I.e. that their word is not their bond, but an interim and tentative promise to commit to specific action, unless:
a. Some circumstance or event gets in the way, or
b. A better or more desirable offer/desire intervenes, or
c. It is inconvenient to hold to their promise, or
d. To do so will be detrimental to their short term, self serving interests.
Shifting that cultural ethic to one of rigorous integrity within an organization is daunting, and too often either ignored or given wide latitude by managers, not appreciating the enormous damage that is done to trust, mutual respect and effectiveness.
